The outstanding troubadour Walfrido Guevara Navarro died in Havana.

He was a prolific composer of musical themes of various genres, including cha cha chá, songs and boleros. Born in Santiago de Cuba in 1916, especially in the fifties of the twentieth century, his creations reached the top of the charts in Cuba and other Latin American countries.

Cha cha cha chá

It is a genre of Cuban popular music. Its name is related to the sound produced by the dancers when their feet rub against the floor. It was created by Cuban orchestra conductor, violinist and composer Enrique Jorrín, who was born in the town of Candelaria in the province of Pinar del Río. The first of this new rhythm was entitled La engañadora which dates from 1948 and achieved notable success in 1953.
