Domingo Goicuría Cabrera is born in Havana.

He grew up in the bosom of a family of merchants of very good economic position. Throughout his existence he was an outstanding independence fighter who, due to his ideas, was judged and condemned to death by garrote. A few days before his execution, in a letter to his brother, he regretted not having fallen in a confrontation with the Spanish forces, but he told him that he would know how to die like those who defend the rights of man and that he was happy because the independence of Cuba was only a matter of time.
