Francisco Covarrubias dies in Havana.

He was the most popular actor of the theater in Cuba in the 19th century. He was born in Havana on October 5, 1775. He received a careful education since he was a child. He studied Latin, philosophy, surgery and anatomy. He worked for some time as a doctor in a sugar mill. As a young man he began to act in comedies that he presented in the homes of his friends. In addition to being a famous actor, he was a prolific playwright.  Among his works are those entitled "El peón de tierra adentro", "La Valla de los gallos", "Las tertulias de La Habana" and "Los velorios de La Habana", written in 1814, and "La Feria de Carraguao", conceived in 1815, and of his contribution to this artistic manifestation it has been detailed that thanks to Covarrubias the Cuban language was spoken in the theater that was presented in our territory.
