A total of 424 are diagnosed in Havana of the 1 470 new COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Cuba
Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, June 12th, 1 470 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 157 708.
To date, 1 087 deceased were reported (12 within the day), 1 027 patients were discharged (within the day), 6 806 were confirmed, of which 6 655 (97.8%) have a clinically stable course, and we arrive to 149 759 (95%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 56 patients in a critical state and 95 in a serious one.
Of those diagnosed, 424 belong to the capital, of which 420 are autochthonous and 10 are imported. The province reported 5 deceased, and 68 of the 117 active events on the country. Due to the increase in the case amount, the presence, dispersion, and rising tendency in all municipalities, the province will continue to be in the epidemiological phase know as Limited Local Transmission Stage, also having the highest incidence rate every 100 000 inhabitants of 305%, the highest in the country in the last 15 days. Also, 5 of the 15 pediatric patients under the age of one were identified in Havana.
The most affected municipalities in the capital were: Centro Habana (42), Cerro (39), Playa (38), Boyeros (34), Diez de Octubre (33), Guanabacoa and Marianao (31 each), Arroyo Naranjo and San Miguel del Padrón (29 each), Plaza de la Revolución (28), Lisa (21), Habana Vieja and Habana del Este (19 each), Cotorro (18), and Regla (10).
Durán informed that 5 municipalities in Havana are among the 12 with the 21% of the COVID-19 incidence rate in the last 15 days.
For the COVID-19, 19 600 samples were analyzed, and 1 470 were positive. The country has had a total of 4 615 925 samples analyzed, and 157 708 of these were positive (3.42%).
1 334 (90.8%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, for a total of 149 461 (94.8%); 58 (3.9%) being infected abroad, for a total of 7 835; and 78 (5.3%) had an undefined source of infection.
This Saturday’s autochthonous cases were a total 1 412, and 53 were imported. A total of 762 (51.8%), and 708 (48.2%) were male.
A total of 30 444 patients are kept under clinical and epidemiological surveillance, 5 511 are under suspicion, 18 127 are under surveillance, and 6 806 (4.3%) have been confirmed, of which 6 655 (97.8%) have a stable clinical course.
The 42.4% (624) of the 1 470 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 76 442, which represents the 48.5% of the confirmed cases to date.
The 1 407 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 252 below the age of 20 years old; 476 between 20 and 39 years old; 490 between 40 and 59 years old, and 252 above 60 years old.
COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until June 12th, is 0.69% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.16%) and the one of the American continent (2.62%).
