The brutality of the military dictatorship headed by Fulgencio Batista not even stopped at the presence of women. That vile murder once again showed the cruel nature of the dictatorial regime. It also showed that the fight should continue. This was how these innocent young girls, who were born in the City of Cienfuegos, were part of the long list of crimes. Men and women of the Cuban people were dying as a consequence of the existing intense repression.

City of Cienfuegos

It is a picturesque Cuban city. It is the only one founded by French colonists on April 22, 1819. Besides being a National Monument its historical center was declared by the Organization of United Nations for Education, Science and Culture as a World Cultural Heritage. It was due to its natural beauty as well as the historical and architectural treasures. Cienfuegos has been described as the Pearl of the South but is also known as The City of the Sea, because of its position in the Jagua Bay.
