Eliseo Grenet is born in Havana.

He was an outstanding composer and pianist. As a creator he is specifically remembered for a piece that has toured several countries and has become a sort of symbol of Cuban identity, the one entitled "Mamá Inés", which was interpreted by Rita Montaner and Ignacio Villa, Bola de Nieve. He also composed several sucu-sucu that have remained as the best that has been produced of this variant of the son. He had a relatively brief existence since he died when he was only 57 years old.

Sucu - sucu

It arose in the Isla de Pinos, today Isla de la Juventud at the end of the 19th century and, although today it is a little forgotten, Sucu-Sucu is one of the most emblematic and autochthonous dances of Cuba. Sucu-Sucu is known not only as the dance, but also the music, which has important sources of contact with the so-called Son Montuno in terms of its formal, melodic, instrumental and harmonic structure. It also has a very peculiar way of interpretation. At the present time, the musician and composer Ramón (Mongo) Rives Amador is its greatest exponent.
