Roberto Agudo García dies.

In his professional career he had an extensive journalistic work. For many years he worked as a director of the (Information System of Cuban Television) and later in the newspaper Trabajadores. In 1976, he was the first Cuban journalist to make a live news broadcast via satellite from the then Soviet Union. He covered Fidel Castro's visits to Chile, Ecuador, Bulgaria, Algeria and other countries.  He also carried out other journalistic activities in different countries. Throughout his life he received several awards, among others, the José Martí National Journalism Award for his life's work, granted by the Union of Journalists of Cuba.

Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC)

A non-governmental social and professional organization, formed on July 15, 1963, as a result of the union of press professionals who until then were members of the National College of Journalists, the Association of Reporters of Havana, the Press Association of Cuba and hundreds of small journalistic organizations and associations that grouped reporters, correspondents, proofreaders, photographers, cameramen, cartoonists and humorists.
