Rafael Sixto Casado y Alayeto dies in Havana.

His birth took place in Havana on August 6, 1834. Although his family had little income, he was able to study. In October 1859 he obtained a degree in Philosophy at the University of Havana. Since 1857 a private school identified as San Anacleto had been created in Havana, which was initially located in a large house at 144 San Nicolás Street and later at 109 Reina Street. Since its inauguration it began with primary education, until 1863 when its director Rafael Sixto Casado requested and obtained permission for secondary education. Rafael Sixto was the first teacher who taught José Martí when he was 9 years old.
