Havana identifies 540 of the 1188 new COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Cuba
Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, May 28th, 1 188 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 140 087.
To date, 943 deceased were reported (10 within the day), 1 449 patients were discharged (within the day), 6 178 (4.6%) were confirmed, of which 6 027 (97.5%) have a clinically stable course, and we arrive to 132 910 (94.9%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 52 patients in a critical state and 99 in a serious one.
Of those diagnosed, 540 belong to the capital. Of that amount, 534 were autochthonous and 6 were imported. Due to the increase in the case amount, the presence, dispersion, and rising tendency in all municipalities, the province will continue to be in the epidemiological phase know as Limited Local Transmission Stage, also having the highest incidence rate which is 417.2% during the last 15 days. The province also has the highest amount of pediatric cases identified yesterday, with a 45.5% (86). Respecting positivity in PCR tests, it is located in the fifth position with a 6.1%.
The most affected municipalities in the capital were: Diez de Octubre (51), Centro Habana (48), Boyeros (45), Habana del Este and San Miguel del Padrón (42 each), Guanabacoa (41), Lisa (39), Cerro y Marianao (36 cada uno), Habana Vieja and Arroyo Naranjo (35 each), Playa and Plaza de la Revolución (27 cada uno), Regla (18), and Cotorro (11).
Durán informed that 9 of the 15 municipalities in Havana contain the 36% of the COVID-19 incidence rate in the country, in the last 15 days. These are: Regla, Marianao, San Miguel del Padrón, Centro Habana, Guanabacoa, Boyeros, Cerro, Lisa y Habana Vieja.
For the COVID-19, 23 299 samples were analyzed, and 1 188 were positive. The country has had a total of 4 283 455 samples analyzed, and 140 087 of these were positive.
1 110 (93.4%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, for a total of 132 574 since the beginning of the pandemic which represents the 94.6%; 24 (2.0%) being infected abroad, for a total of 7 216 (5.2%) being infected abroad; and 54 (4.5%) with a undetermined source of infection.
This Friday’s autochthonous cases were a total 1 164, and 24 were imported. A total of 595 (50.1%) of these were female and 593 (49.9%) were male.
A total of 27 210 patients are kept under clinical and epidemiological surveillance, 4 307 are under suspicion, 16 725 are under surveillance, and 6 178 (4.6%) have been confirmed, of which 6 027 (97.5%) have a stable clinical course.
The 49.3% (586) of the 1 188 positive cases where asymptomatic, for a total of 68 500, which represents the 48.9% of the confirmed cases to date.
The 1 169 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 216 below the age of 20 years old; 216 between 20 and 39 years old; 418 between 40 and 59 years old, and 201 above 60 years old.
COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until May 28th, is 0.67% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.08%) and the one of the American continent (2.44%).
