Havana reports 536 of the 1169 new COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Cuba
Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, May 27nd, 1 169 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 139 899.
To date, 933 deceased were reported (12 within the day), 1 263 patients were discharged (within the day), 6 449 (4.6%) were confirmed, of which 6317 (97.8%) have a clinically stable course, and we arrive to 131 461 (94.6%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 48 patients in a critical state and 84 in a serious one.
Of those diagnosed, 536 belong to the capital. Of that amount, 532 were autochthonous and 4 were imported. Due to the increase in the case amount, the presence, dispersion, and rising tendency in all municipalities, the province will continue to be in the epidemiological phase know as Limited Local Transmission Stage, also having the highest incidence rate which is 422.4% during the last 15 days. The province also has the highest amount of pediatric cases identified yesterday, with a 47.8% (97). Respecting positivity in PCR tests, it is located in the fifth position with a 6.3%.
The most affected municipalities in the capital were: Marianao (68), Diez de Octubre (67), Arroyo Naranjo (59), Boyeros (47), Lisa (44), San Miguel del Padrón (42), Playa (33), Cotorro (31), Centro Habana and Cerro (30), Plaza de la Revolución (28), Regla (19), Guanabacoa (16), Habana del Este (13), and Habana Vieja (9).
Durán informed that 10 of the 15 municipalities in Havana contain the 40% of the COVID-19 incidence rate in the country, in the last 15 days. These are: Regla, San Miguel del Padrón, Centro Habana, Boyeros, Guanabacoa, Cerro, Lisa y Arroyo Naranjo.
For the COVID-19, 21 978 samples were analyzed, and 1 263 were positive. The country has had a total of 4 260 156 samples analyzed, and 138 899 of these were positive.
1 100 (94.1%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, for a total of 131 464 since the beginning of the pandemic which represents the 94.6%; 34 (2.9%) being infected abroad, for a total of 7 192 (5.2%) being infected abroad; and 35 (3%) with a undetermined source of infection.
This Wednesday’s autochthonous cases were a total 1 135, and 34 were imported. A total of 594 (50.8%) of these were female and 575 (49.2%) were male.
A total of 27 329 patients are kept under clinical and epidemiological surveillance, 4 428 are under suspicion, 16 452 are under surveillance, and 6 449 (4.6%) have been confirmed, of which 6 317 (97.8%) have a stable clinical course.
The 45% (526) of the 1 169 positive cases where asymptomatic, for a total of 67 914, which represents the 48.9% of the confirmed cases to date.
The 1 169 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 202 below the age of 20 years old; 362 between 20 and 39 years old; 378 between 40 and 59 years old, and 227 above 60 years old.
COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until May 26nd, is 0.67% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.08%) and the one of the American continent (2.44%).
