Lisandro Otero González is born in Havana.

During the course of his life he studied literature at the Sorbonne University in Paris, and was also a student at the School of Journalism and the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Havana. He also graduated as a journalist from the Manuel Márquez Sterling School. He was editor-in-chief of the newspaper Revolución, director of the magazines Cuba and Revolución y Cultura. He was also executive of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba and was a member of the Board of Casa de las Americas.

MANUEL MARQUEZ STERLING SCHOOL

The Manuel Márquez Sterling Professional School of Journalism is the first of its kind in Cuba and the fourth in Latin America. In its classrooms were formed outstanding figures in the history of the Cuban press. On April 21, 1942, the foundation of the Manuel Márquez Sterling Professional School of Journalism was legalized and it opened its doors in October 1943. Three specialization profiles were offered to students: professional journalist (editor-reporter), technical-graphic journalist and journalistic drawing technician.
