Victoria Brú Sánchez is born in the area of Managua, Havana.

From a very young age she felt a vocation for nursing, hence she assisted and watched over sick relatives and friends. On January 21, 1910 she was appointed Superintendent of the hospital "Número Uno" and its School of Nurses, where she worked for 4 years. In 1914 she was transferred to the hospital in Cienfuegos, with the same responsibility. She was performing these functions when, in 1918, a terrible influenza epidemic broke out. She was a victim of the epidemic itself and thus became a martyr of the humanitarian profession she had chosen, following her firm vocation.

#S1MANAGUA

It is one of the oldest towns in the Municipality of Arroyo Naranjo, belonging to Havana. It is said that its name was given by the native aborigines who lived there. Its origin was apparently due to the natural characteristics of the land and its great variety, in addition to the existence of abundant springs and natural streams. In this area the flat relief predominates, surrounded by a mountain range of small elevations, as well as small caverns and caves. The settlement of this extensive area was around the year 1730, which is the time that Managua appears as a neighborhood on the basis of an agricultural hacienda from the seventeenth century and its subsequent settlement in isolation.

CIENFUEGOS

It is one of the picturesque Cuban cities, the only one founded by French settlers on April 22, 1819. In addition to being a National Monument, its historic urban center was declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. Due to its natural beauties as well as its historical and architectural relics, Cienfuegos has been called the Pearl of the South.  It is also known as the City of the Sea, because it is located on the shore of the Jagua Bay.
