Radeúnda Lima dies in Havana.

She was one of the most relevant figures of the country music in Cuba. He was famous performing guajiras, ballads and sones montunos ( type of Cuban music).  Together with his brother Raul he was very popular in the 40´s in the 20th century. His brother was known as The Magician of the laud (el Mago del Laúd). They performed in radio programs, especially in Mil Diez and RHC Cadena Azul. It is said that she liked the music played in Vueltas, the rural area where she was born. It is in the central part of Cuba.  

 

MIL DIEZ RADIO STATION

It was founded on March 10th, 1943 by the Communist Revolutionary Union Party (Partido Unión Revolucionaria Comunista). Radio Lavin was bought with that purpose and the people supported that. Its frequency was 1010 kilocycles and that was the origin of the name of the radio station  although it was officially known as Radio Popular Onda Colectiva. Transmissions started on April 1st of the same year and had an 18 hours scheduling. It was heard inside and outside the country because it had to plants, a short wave one and a long wave one. The musical theme La Bayamesa identified the station and its slogan was “The best at the service of the best of the people”. The outstanding broadcaster  Ibrahim Urbino was the leader of the station which initially  was located in Reina Street 314 in the current municipality of Centro Habana.
