Juana Borrero is born in the neighborhood Santos Suarez, in Havana. and was a member of an educated family with deep patriotic feelings. She was early notable in literature and painting and had drawing lessons since she was a child. Later she entered in the Academy of Fine arts of San Alejandro. She died on March 9th 1896 but despite her short life she showed her concern on literature and fine arts.

It is a Council of the municipality of Diez de Octubre in the province of Havana. The street Santos Suarez, which identifies this suburb, got that name from Leonardo Santos Suarez y Pérez. This man was elected as a deputy in the elections held in the 19th century.
