He was born in Varsovia, Poland on November 4th, 1842. He came to Cuba around the middle of 1865 and took up residence in Caibarien and identified with the ideas of the pro independence Cubans. On February 7th, 1869, with the uprising of the ancient province of Las Villas and taking into account his military knowledge he was appointed Brigadier General and Chief of the Defence Staff of the mambises (Cuban rebels of 1868) of that territory. He also worked with Jose Marti in the organization of event called the Necessary War, restarted in 1895.  

Caibarien

This place is located in the province of Las Villas, in the central part of the Cuban archipelago. Is localized as Villa Blanca, Villa de los Cangrejos" and  "La Capital de las Velas". This is the main city of the municipality of similar name and has a 385, 76 square kilometers surface. Around 212 kilometers are solid ground while 173 kilometers are adjacent cays.
