Havana has 616 of the 1060 new COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Cuba
Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, April 12th, 1060 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 88 445.
To date, 476 deceased were reported (9 within the day), 4 826 were confirmed, of which 4 087 (98.7%) have a clinically stable course, 1187 patients were discharged, and we arrive to 83 087 (93.9%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 30 patients in a critical state and 31 in a serious one.
As it is usual, Havana reports the largest amount of confirmed cases with 616 (184 more than the day before). Of that total, 608 were autochthonous and 8 were imported. Due to the increase in the case amount, the presence, dispersion, and rising tendency in all municipalities, the province will continue to be in the epidemiological phase know as Limited Local Transmission Stage, also having the highest incidence rate which is 359.9% during the last 15 days, being higher than the day before.
The most affected municipalities in the capital were: Arroyo Naranjo (80), Diez de Octubre (71), Habana del Este (56), San Miguel del Padrón (53), Habana Vieja (48), Centro Habana (45), Boyeros (43), Guanabacoa (38), Cerro (33), Playa (30), Marianao (29), Plaza de la Revolución (26), Regla (26), Lisa (20), and Cotorro (18).
Eleven of the municipalities in Havana are among the twelve where the 49.9% of the COVID-19 incidence has been located in the last 15 days. The most affected municipalities in havana are: Habana Vieja, Regla, Centro Habana, Arroyo Naranjo, Cerro, San Miguel del Padrón, and Diez de Octubre.
The other confirmed cases belong to other provinces like: Matanzas (122), Sancti Spíritus (78), Santiago de Cuba (49), Granma (31), Mayabeque (25), Artemisa (23), Pinar del Río (21), Cienfuegos and Villa Clara (18 each), Holguín (17), Las Tunas (14), Ciego de Ávila (13), Camagüey (11), and Guantánamo (4).
For the COVID-19, 21 339 samples were analyzed, and 1 060 were positive. The country has had a total of 3 256 543 samples analyzed, and 88 445 (2.72) of these were positive.
1004 (94.7%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, for a total of 83 044 since the beginning of the pandemic which represents the 93.8%; 18 (1.6%) being infected abroad, for another total of 2 212 (5.8%).
The 1060 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 177 below the age of 20 years old; 341 between 20 and 39 years old; 352 between 40 and 59 years old, and 190 above 60 years old.
This Moday’s autochthonous cases were a total 1 042, and 18 were imported. A total of 543 (51.2%) of these were female and 517 (48.8%) were male.
COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until April 12th, is 0.54% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.16%) and the one of the American continent (2.41%).

Habana del Este: 56 (all contacts of confirmed cases).
Habana Vieja: 48 (all contacts of confirmed cases).
La Lisa: 20 (19 were contacts of confirmed cases and 1 with an undetermined source of infection).
Marianao: 29 (27 were contacts of confirmed cases and 2 were imported).
Playa: 30 (26 were contacts of confirmed cases, 3 were imported, and 1 with an undetermined source of infection).
Plaza de la Revolución: 26 (25 were contacts of confirmed cases and 1 was imported).
Regla: 26 (all contacts of confirmed cases).
San Miguel del Padrón: 53 (all contacts of confirmed cases).
Until April 12th, it is confirmed that 190 countries and 29 territories present COVID-19 cases. There is a total of 135 066 403 confirmed cases (+ 456 434) with 23 891 564 active cases, and 2 954 749 deceased (+ 6 163) for a fatality rate of 2.16 (=).
In the American continent, 59 321 092 cases were reported (+ 79 581), which is a 43.27% of the total amount of cases confirmed worldwide, with 9 245 612 active and 1 432 400 deceased (+ 10 161) for a fatality rate of 2.41.
