Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, April 9th, 1042 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 85 572.

To date, 453 deceased were reported (5 within the day), 5 105 (6%) were confirmed, of which 5 048 (98.9%) have a clinically stable course, 1042 patients were discharged, and we arrive to 79 958 (93.4%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 32 patients in a critical state and 25 in a serious one.

As it is usual, the largest amount of PCR tests were done in the capital, which was a total of 7 903 representing a 37 %, and resulting in 587 confirmed cases, 583 of them were autochthonous and 4 were imported. Due to the increase in the case amount, the presence, dispersion, and rising tendency in all municipalities, the province will continue to be in the epidemiological phase know as Limited Local Transmission Stage, also having the highest incidence rate which is 350.2% during the last 15 days, being higher than the day before.

The most affected municipalities in the capital were: Arroyo Naranjo (69), Diez de Octubre (30), Boyeros and Centro Habana (51 each), Cerro (46), Habana Vieja (44), Habana del Este (43), Lisa (40), Marianao (32), San Miguel del Padrón and Playa (21 each), Cotorro (20), Guanabacoa (18), and Regla (13).

Eleven of the municipalities in Havana are among the twelve where the 49.9% of the COVID-19 incidence has been located in the last 15 days. The most affected municipalities in havana are: Habana Vieja, Regla, San Miguel del Padrón, Centro Habana, Cerro, Habana del Este, Cotorro, Diez de Octubre, Arroyo Naranjo, Guanabacoa, y La Lisa.

The other confirmed cases belong to other provinces like: Matanzas (138), Granma (67), Sancti Spíritus (55), Pinar del Río (47), Santiago de Cuba (36), Artemisa (25), Cienfuegos (19), Villa Clara (17), Camagüey and Ciego de Ávila (12 cada uno), Mayabeque (10), Guantánamo (7), Las Tunas (5), and Holguín (3).

For the COVID-19, 21 332 samples were analyzed, and 1 040 were positive. The country has had a total of 3 191 858 samples analyzed, and 85 572 (2.68) of these were positive.

998 (96%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, for a total of 80 200 since the beginning of the pandemic which represents the 93.7%; 11 (1.05%) being infected abroad, for another total of 5 165; and 31 (3%) with undefined source of infection.

This Friday’s autochthonous cases were a total 1 029, and 11 were imported. A total of 515 (49.5%) of these were female and 525 (50.5%) were male.

COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until April 9th, is 0.53% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.16%) and the one of the American continent (2.41%).

Arroyo Naranjo: 87 (86 were contacts of confirmed cases and 1 was imported).

Centro Habana: 51(50 were contacts of confirmed cases and 1 was imported).

Cerro: 46(all contacts of confirmed cases).

Cotorro: 20(all contacts of confirmed cases).

Guanabacoa: 18(all contacts of confirmed cases).

Habana del Este: 43(all contacts of confirmed cases).

Habana Vieja: 44(all contacts of confirmed cases).

La Lisa: 40(all contacts of confirmed cases).

Marianao: 32(31 were contacts of confirmed cases and 1 was imported).

Playa: 21(all contacts of confirmed cases).

Plaza de la Revolución: 21(20 were contacts of confirmed cases and 1 was imported).

Regla: 13(all contacts of confirmed cases).

San Miguel del Padrón: 31(all contacts of confirmed cases).

Until April 9th, it is confirmed that 190 countries and 29 territories present COVID-19 cases. There is a total of 135 187 914 confirmed cases (+ 962 595) with 23 537 583 active cases, and 2 925 832 deceased (+ 17 768) for a fatality rate of 2.16 (-0.01).

In the American continent, 58 795 249 cases were reported (+ 350 796), which is a 43.49% of the total amount of cases confirmed worldwide, with 9 251 253 active and 1 419 356 deceased (+ 13 471) for a fatality rate of 2.41.
