Which of the cemeteries in Havana has a tomb identified as La Milagrosa?

The tomb La Milagrosa is located at Cemetery Cristobel Colon. The legend tells that the moment the remains of the mother and her son were to be exhumed, their bodies were intact; Amelia was holding her son in her arms in a lovely way. The tomb was sealed and has remained like that for ever. That love was an inspiration for an exceptional artist, the Cuban sculptor Jose Vilalta Saavedra, who made a life – size sculpture of Carrara marble, built on the empty ossuary in the eastern side of the burial mound. It accurately represents the image of a young woman with a beautiful and calmed face. Her eyes are looking up in a gesture of faith. The legend of La Milagrosa spread and was spontaneously made popular, today this tomb and the monumental complex represent an spiritual patrimony at the Necropolis de Colon and is still visited by many people.

José Vilalta Saavedra

He was one of the first Cuban sculptors that studied in Carrara. He was known in Cuba when he presented the project of the Monument to the eight students of Medicine and got the first place. His work is also seen in the Cemetery Colon in Havana. He was also the creator of the first statue of Jose Marti in the Central Park of Havana, as a tribute to this great figure of our history.
