The capital reports 596 of the 1 162 new COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Cuba
Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, April 3rd, 1 162 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 79 544.
To date, 436 deceased were reported (five within the day), 4 806 (6 %) were confirmed, of which 4 723 (98.3%) have a clinically stable course, 1 162 patients were discharged, and we arrive to 74 246 (93.3%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 34 patients in a critical state and 49 in a serious one.
As it is usual, the largest amount of PCR tests were done in the capital, which was a total of 8 517 representing a 39.6 %, and resulting in 596 confirmed cases (26 more than the day before), 516 of them were autochthonous and 1 was imported. Due to the increase in the case amount, the presence, dispersion, and rising tendency in all municipalities, the province will continue to be in the epidemiological phase know as Limited Local Transmission Stage, also having the highest incidence rate which is 339.2% during the last 15 days, being higher than the day before. There are 9 active events.
The most affected municipalities in the capital were: San Miguel del Padrón (81), Arroyo Naranjo (79), Marianao (67), Boyeros (56), Diez de Octubre (47), Habana Vieja (39), Centro Habana (38), Lisa (34), Cerro (32), Habana del Este (29), Guanabacoa (28), Playa and Plaza de la Revolución (25 each), Regla (11), and Cotorro (5).
Eleven of the municipalities in Havana are among the twelve where the 49.9% of the COVID-19 incidence has been located in the last 15 days. The most affected municipalities in havana are: Habana Vieja, Regla, San Miguel del Padrón, Centro Habana, Cerro, Habana del Este, Cotorro, Diez de Octubre, Arroyo Naranjo, Guanabacoa, y La Lisa.
The other confirmed cases belong to other provinces like: Granma (123), Matanzas (114), Santiago de Cuba (66), Sancti Spíritus (56), Pinar del Río (53), Holguín (27), Artemisa (26), Mayabeque (21), Villa Clara (18), Camagüey and Las Tunas (16 each), Cienfuegos and Guantánamo (11 each), and Ciego de Ávila (8).
For the COVID-19, 21 488 samples were analyzed, and 1 162 were positive. The country has had a total of 3 068 389 samples analyzed, and 79 544 of these were positive.
1132 (97.4%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, for a total of 73 718 since the beginning of the pandemic which represents the 92.6%; 8 (0.7%) being infected abroad, for another total of 5090 (6.4%); and 22 (1.8%) with undefined source of infection.
This Saturday’s autochthonous cases were a total 1154, and 8 were imported. A total of 600 (51.6%) of these were female and 562 (48.4%) were male.
A total of 26 319 patients are still hospitalized under clinical and epidemiological surveillance, 3 885 are suspected cases, 17 628 are under surveillance, and 4 806 (6%) have been confirmed, of which 4 723 (98.3%) have a stable clinical course.
The 45.3% (526) of the 1 162 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 41 181, which represents the 51.8% of all the confirmed cases to date.
The 1 162 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 193 below the age of 20 years old; 360 between 20 and 39 years old; 413 between 40 and 59 years old, and 196 above 60 years old.
COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until April 3rd, is 0.55% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.18%) and the one of the American continent (2.41%).

Until April 3nd, it is confirmed that 190 countries and 29 territories present COVID-19 cases. There is a total of 131 180 052 confirmed cases (+ 553 515) with 22 734 669 active cases, and 2 854 941 deceased (+ 9 334) for a fatality rate of 2.18.
In the American continent, 57 475 008 cases were reported (+ 191 809), which is a 43.81% of the total amount of cases confirmed worldwide, with 9 256 674 active and 1 383 681 deceased (+ 4 676) for a fatality rate of 2.41.
