Several members of the Revolutionary Directorate were assassinated in Havana

The incident took place in the building located at 7 Humboldt Street. Young revolutionaries Fructuoso Rodriguez, Joe Westbrook, Juan Pedro Carbó Serviá and José Machado (Machadito) were surprised, surrounded and machine-gunned.#S1The four were participants in the revolutionary actions that took place in Havana on March 13, 1957,when the assault on the Presidential Palace and the takeover of Radio Reloj took place.

Revolutionary Directory

It was a revolutionary insurrectionary organization in Cuba during the fight against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. It was founded and directed by José Antonio Echeverría at the University of Havana in 1955. José Antonio was then the President of the University Student Federation at the University.

Presidential Palace

It was inaugurated in 1920 in the area between the streets of Refugio, Colón, Zulueta and Avenida de Belgium or Montserrat, in Old Havana.

The idea of ​​its construction dates from 1909 when the Provincial Governor of Havana decided to move the province government’s headquarters to a new building. In 1913 the project was launched. Later it was decided that the building would serve as the seat of the Presidency of the Republic. It is a four-story building, made of beautifully carved white stone blocks, crowned by a slender dome, and with a terrace on its main facade. At present, the Museum of the Revolution has been operating there for several decades.

Radio Reloj

It is Cuban news radio station. It was founded on July 1, 1947 in Havana. It is characterized by the continuous sound of the clock's second hand, the announcement of the hour on each minute and by 24-hour-a-day broadcasts.
