Havana has 516 of the 1 077 new COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Cuba
Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, April 1st, 1 077 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 77 353.
To date, 429 deceased were reported (four within the day), 4 517 (5.8 %) were confirmed, of which 4 434 (98.2%) have a clinically stable course, 858 patients were discharged, and we arrive to 72 351 (93.5%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 34 patients in a critical state and 49 in a serious one.
As it is usual, the largest amount of PCR tests were done in the capital, resulting in 516 confirmed cases, of which 514 are autochthonous and 2 were imported. Due to the increase in the case amount, the presence, dispersion, and rising tendency in all municipalities, the province will continue to be in the epidemiological phase know as Limited Local Transmission Stage, also having the highest incidence rate which is 324.9%.
The most affected municipalities in the capital were: San Miguel del Padrón (74), Centro Habana (55), Lisa (49), Diez de Octubre (44), Habana del Este (43), Habana Vieja (38), Boyeros (35), Arrollo Naranjo (33), Cerro (31), Guanabacoa (30), Marianao (29), Plaza de la Revolución (27), Regla (17), Playa (15), and Cotorro (6).
Eleven of the municipalities in Havana are among the twelve where the 50.6% of the COVID-19 incidence has been located in the last 15 days. The most affected municipalities in havana are: Habana Vieja, Regla, San Miguel del Padrón, Centro Habana, Cerro, Habana del Este, Cotorro, Diez de Octubre, Arroyo Naranjo, Guanabacoa, y La Lisa.
The other confirmed cases belong to other provinces like: Granma (116), Matanzas (98), Santiago de Cuba (72), Sancti Spíritus and Pinar del Río (54 each), Cienfuegos (49), Camagüey (29), Artemisa and Mayabeque (22 each), Guantánamo (16), Villa Clara (14), Ciego de Ávila (13), and Holguín (2).
For the COVID-19, 20 749 samples were analyzed, and 1077 were positive. The country has had a total of 3 025 927 samples analyzed, and 77 353 of these were positive.
1030 (95.6%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, for a total of 71 565 since the beginning of the pandemic which represents the 92.5%; 10 (0.9%) being infected abroad, for another total of 5076 (6.6%); and 37 (3.4%) with undefined source of infection.
This Thursday’s autochthonous cases were a total 1067, and 10 were imported. A total of 546 (50.7%) of these were female and 531 (49.3%) were male.
A total of 24 939 patients are still hospitalized under clinical and epidemiological surveillance, 3 706 are suspected cases, 16 716 are under surveillance, and 4 517 (5.8%) have been confirmed, of which 4 434 (98.2%) have a stable clinical course.
The 47% (506) of the 1 007 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 40 176, which represents the 51.9% of all the confirmed cases to date.
The 1 077 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 148 below the age of 20 years old; 375 between 20 and 39 years old; 383 between 40 and 59 years old, and 171 above 60 years old.
COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until April 1st, is 0.37% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.18%) and the one of the American continent (2.41%).
