The Un Puente hacia La Habana International Festival Will Take Place Online

Mi Habana es Música (My Havana is Music) is the slogan of this Un Puente hacia La Habana International Festival, which will take place between April 29th and May 1st.

This event, created and directed by Jorge Luis Robaina, leader of the band Karamba, is sponsored by the Musical Record and Edition Company (EGREM), and will occur mainly on social media.

The situation created by the COVID-19 pandemic will not be an obstacle to display a wide range of activities that will include concerts, theoretical debates, materials, interviews, a photography contest, and more, said Robaina.

Some of the topics to be analyses by those who participate in this event are the challenges resulting from the impossibility to make massive concerts and shows in the middle of world incertitude, added the musician.

Besides, Cuban musicians, journalists, musicologists, and international personalities who have participated in previous editions will reflect about a “Revolution in the music industry: how to make yourself visible and make a profit in the new digital era”.

Another main activity in this festival will be the publishing of the second volume of the CD Un Puente hacia La Habana, including the participation of artists like: the Andy and Lucas Duo, Carlos Torres, Buena Fe, Waldo Mendoza, David Blanco, Perrozompopo, Kiko and Shara, among others.

The Un Puente hacia La Habana International Festival intends to gather professionals within the world of music, and to create bonds in a unique environment, in order to analyze the benefits and challenges that the current context imposes over the music industry.

This festival was suspended last year due to presence of the new coronavirus in the country. It also had planned the participation of the Spanish singer-songwriter Alex Ubago, which would have been his first participation in Cuba, also performing in several provinces.

The event continues to be itinerant, inclusive, and massive, only that this time all three aspects will occur on the different platforms that have provided so much help to the musical and cultural artists and institutions.
