Havana reports 502 of the 919 new COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Cuba
The doctor Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, March 27th, 919 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 72 503.
To date, 415 deceased were reported (one within the day), 3 533 (4.9 %) were confirmed, of which 3 468 (98.2%) have a clinically stable course, 802 patients were discharged, and we arrive to 68 499 (94.5%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 27 patients in a critical state and 38 in a serious one.
As it is usual, the largest amount of PCR tests were done in the capital, which is the 41.7%, resulting in 502 confirmed cases, of which 500 are autochthonous and 2 were imported. Due to the increase in the case amount, the presence, dispersion, and rising tendency in all municipalities, the province will continue to be in the epidemiological phase know as Limited Local Transmission Stage, also having the highest incidence rate which is 313.6%.
The most affected municipalities in the capital were: San Miguel del Padrón (51), Arroyo Naranjo and Diez de Octubre (49 each), Centro Habana (43), Playa (41), Habana Vieja (38), Guanabacoa (35), Habana del Este (33), Marianao (32), Boyeros (30), Cerro (29), La Lisa (27), Plaza de la Revolución (20), Regla (17), and Cotorro (8).
Eleven of these municipalities are among the twelve where the 50% of the COVID-19 incidence has been located in the last 15 days. These territories are: Habana Vieja, Regla, San Miguel del Padrón, Centro Habana, Cerro, Habana del Este, Cotorro, Diez de Octubre, Arroyo Naranjo, Guanabacoa, y La Lisa.
The other confirmed cases belong to other provinces like: Camagüey (109), Santiago (107), Pinar del Rio (40), Cienfuegos (31), Matanzas (24), Artemisa (20), Sancti Spíritus (17), Guantánamo and Mayabeque (10 each), Holguín (9), Villa Clara (7), Ciego de Ávila (6), Las Tunas and the Isle of Youth (4 each).
For the COVID-19, 20 013 samples were analyzed, and 919 were positive. The country has had a total of 924 091 samples analyzed, and 71 503 of these were positive (2.48%).
880 (96%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, for a total of 941 (92%) since the beginning of the pandemic; 6 of them infected abroad, for a total of 5 033 (6.9%); and 33 being infected by an undetermined source.
This Saturday’s autochthonous cases were a total 913, and 6 were imported. A total of 424 (46.1%) of these were female and 495 (53%) were male.
A total of 23 192 patients are still hospitalized under clinical and epidemiological surveillance, 3 981 are suspected cases, 15 678 are under surveillance, and 3 533 (4.9%) have been confirmed, of which 3 468 (98.2%) have a stable clinical course.
The 42.9% (394) of the 919 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 37 949, which represents the 52% of all the confirmed cases to date.
The 919 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 113 below the age of 20 years old; 289 between 20 and 39 years old; 365 between 40 and 59 years old, and 152 above 60 years old.
COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until March 27th, is 0.57% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.19%) and the one of the American continent (2.40%).

Until March 27nd, it is confirmed that 190 countries and 29 territories present COVID-19 cases. There is a total of 127 091 844 confirmed cases (+ 574 518) with 21 895 720 active cases, and 2 784 034 deceased (+ 10 207) for a fatality rate of 2.19 (=).
In the American continent, 56 127 222 cases were reported (+ 204 069), which is a 44.16% of the total amount of cases confirmed worldwide, with 9 260 374 active and 1 347 548 deceased (+ 5 941) for a fatality rate of 2.40 (=).
