Havana has 514 of the 832 new COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Cuba
The doctor Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, March 25th, 832 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 70 634.
To date, 413 deceased were reported (four within the day), 3 318 (4.7 %) were confirmed, of which 3 251 (97.9%) have a clinically stable course, 843 patients were discharged, and we arrive to 66 847 (94.6%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 29 patients in a critical state and 38 in a serious one.
As it is usual, the largest amount of PCR tests were done in the capital: 8 270, which is the 41.7%, resulting in 514 confirmed cases, all of them are autochthonous. Due to the increase in the case amount, the presence, dispersion, and rising tendency in all municipalities, the province will continue to be in the epidemiological phase know as Limited Local Transmission Stage, also having the highest incidence rate which is 300.2%.
The most affected municipalities in the capital were: San Miguel del Padrón (60), Guanabacoa (47), Centro Habana (45), Habana Vieja and Diez de Octubre (42 each), Arroyo Naranjo (40), Cerro (39), Playa (34), Marianao (31), Habana del Este (27), La Lisa (25), Cotorro, Plaza de la Revolución and Regla (21 each), and Arroyo Naranjo.
Eleven of these municipalities are among the twelve where the 49.7% of the COVID-19 incidence has been located in the last 15 days. These territories are: Habana Vieja, Regla, San Miguel del Padrón, Centro Habana, Cerro, Habana del Este, Cotorro, Diez de Octubre, Arroyo Naranjo, Guanabacoa, y La Lisa.
The other confirmed cases belong to other provinces like: Santiago de Cuba (74), Camagüey (51), Granma (25), Matanzas (24), Cienfuegos (23), Pinar del Río (22), Artemisa and Guantanamo (17 each), Ciego de Ávila (15), Mayabeque (14), Holguín (11), Villa Clara (9), Las Tunas (4), and the Isle of Youth (1).
For the COVID-19, 19 842 samples were analyzed, and 832 were positive. The country has had a total of 883 123 samples analyzed, and 70 634 of these were positive (2.45%).
805 out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, 9 of them infected abroad, and 26 with an undetermined source of infection.
This Tuesday’s autochthonous cases were a total 823, and 9 were imported. A total of 408 (54.2%) of these were female and 424 (50.9%) were male.
A total of 21 425 patients are still hospitalized under clinical and epidemiological surveillance, 3 733 are suspected cases, 14 474 are under surveillance, and 3 318 (4.7%) have been confirmed, of which 3 251 (97.9%) have a stable clinical course.
The 47.4% (394) of the 832 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 37 091, which represents the 52.6% of all the confirmed cases to date.
The 832 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 136 below the age of 20 years old; 267 between 20 and 39 years old; 287 between 40 and 59 years old, and 142 above 60 years old.
COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until March 24th, is 0.58% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.20%) and the one of the American continent (2.40%).
