Havana reports 404 of the 774 new COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Cuba
The doctor Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, March 22nd, 774 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 68 250.
To date, 401 deceased were reported (four within the day), 793 were discharged (also within the day), 3 361 (4.9 %) were confirmed, of which 3 296 (98.1%) have a clinically stable course, 793 patients were discharged, and we arrive to 64 432 (98.1%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 28 patients in a critical state and 37 in a serious one.
Of those diagnosed, 404 are residents of the capital, 400 of them are autochthonous. Due to the increase in the case amount, the presence, dispersion, and rising tendency in all municipalities, the province will continue to be in the epidemiological phase know as Limited Local Transmission Stage, also having the highest incidence rate which is 292.7%, being lower than the one of the day before.
The most affected municipalities in the capital were: Marianao (49), Arrollo Naranjo (46), Habana Vieja (39), Diez de Octubre (37), Playa (34), San Miguel del Padrón (30), Boyeros (25), La Lisa (23), Habana del Este (22), Centro Habana and Plaza de la Revolución (21 each), Cerro and Guanabacoa (19 each), Cotorro (10), and Regla (9).
Eleven of these municipalities are among the twelve where the 43.4% of the COVID-19 incidence has been located in the last 15 days. These territories are: Habana Vieja, Regla, San Miguel del Padrón, Centro Habana, Cerro, Habana del Este, Cotorro, Diez de Octubre, Arroyo Naranjo, Guanabacoa, y La Lisa.
The other confirmed cases belong to other provinces like: Granma (102), Santiago de Cuba (73), Pinar del Rio (46), Artemisa (25), Sancti Spíritus (15), Mayabeque (14), Guantánamo (13), Villa Clara and Holguín (10 each), Ciego de Ávila (8), Matanzas and Las Tunas (7 each), Cienfuegos (5), and the Isle of Youth (2).
For the COVID-19, 18 162 samples were analyzed, and 774 were positive. The country has had a total of 825 292 samples analyzed, and 68 250 of these were positive (2.42%).
746 (96.4%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, for a total of 62 668, which represents a 91.8%; 8 (1.0%) of these were infected abroad for another total of 4 981 (7.3%), and 20 were infected by an undetermined source.
This Monday’s autochthonous cases were a total 766, and 8 were imported. A total of 390 (50.4%) of these were female and 346 (49.6%) were male.
A total of 20 903 patients are still hospitalized under clinical and epidemiological surveillance, 3 657 are suspected cases, 13 885 are under surveillance, and 3 361 (4.9%) have been confirmed, of which 3 296 (98.1%) have a stable clinical course.
The 55% (426) of the 774 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 35 966, which represents the 52.7% of all the confirmed cases to date.
The 774 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 109 below the age of 20 years old; 242 between 20 and 39 years old; 283 between 40 and 59 years old, and 140 above 60 years old.
COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until March 22nd, is 0.59% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.20%) and the one of the American continent (2.39%).

Guanabacoa: 19 (all contacts of confirmed cases)
Habana del Este: 22 (all contacts of confirmed cases)
Habana Vieja: 39 (all contacts of confirmed cases)
La Lisa: 23 (all contacts of confirmed cases)

Playa: 34 (33 were contacts of confirmed cases and 1 was imported)

Until March 22nd, it is confirmed that 190 countries and 29 territories present COVID-19 cases. There is a total of 124 116 941 confirmed cases (+ 406 828) with 21 377 502 active cases, and 2 731 660 deceased (+ 6 520) for a fatality rate of 2.20.
In the American continent, 55 097 271 cases were reported (+ 114 598), which is a 44.39% of the total amount of cases confirmed worldwide, with 9 380 403 active and 1 321 904 deceased (+ 2 321) for a fatality rate of 2.39.
