Havana has 441 of the 718 new COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Cuba
The doctor Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, March 21st, 718 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 67 476.
To date, 397 deceased were reported (three within the day), 779 were discharged (also within the day), 3 384 were confirmed, of which 3 353 (98.08%) have a clinically stable course, and we arrive to 63 639 (94.3%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 32 patients in a critical state and 45 in a serious one.
Of those diagnosed, 441 are residents of the capital, all of them are autochthonous. Due to the increase in the case amount, the presence, dispersion, and rising tendency in all municipalities, the province will continue to be in the epidemiological phase know as Limited Local Transmission Stage, also having the highest incidence rate which is 290.6%, being lower than the one of the day before.
The most affected municipalities in the capital were: Arrollo Naranjo (42), Diez de Octubre (50), Habana del Este (41), Centro Habana and Boyeros (36 each), Habana Vieja (30), Cerro (26), Playa (25), La Lisa (24), San Miguel del Padrón (22), Marianao (20), Guanabacoa (18), Regla (16), and Cotorro (15).
Eleven of these municipalities are among the twelve where the 43.4% of the COVID-19 incidence has been located in the last 15 days. These territories are: Regla, Habana Vieja, San Miguel del Padrón, Centro Habana, Cotorro, Cerro, Guanabacoa, Habana del Este, Diez de Octubre, Arroyo Naranjo, and La Lisa.
The other confirmed cases belong to other provinces like: Granma (61), Santiago de Cuba (58), Pinar del Rio (33), Artemisa (25), Camagüey (22), Matanzas (18), Holguín (12), Mayabeque and Villa Clara (10 each), Guantánamo (9), Sancti Spíritus (8), Cienfuegos (6), Las Tunas (3), and Ciego de Ávila (2)
For the COVID-19, 18 966 samples were analyzed, and 718 were positive. The country has had a total of 807 130 samples analyzed, and 67 476 of these were positive (2.4%).
697 (97.07%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, for a total of 61 922, which represents a 91.7%; 3 (0.4%) of these were infected abroad for another total of 4 973 (7.4%), and 18 were infected by an undetermined source.
This Sunday’s autochthonous cases were a total 715, and 3 were imported. A total of 372 of these were female and 346 were male.
A total of 21 483 patients are still hospitalized under clinical and epidemiological surveillance, 3 588 are suspected cases, 14 511 are under surveillance, and 3 384 have been confirmed, of which 3 353 (98.08%) have a stable clinical course.
The 52.4% (336) of the 718 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 35 540, which represents the 52.5% of all the confirmed cases to date.
The 718 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 103 below the age of 20 years old; 219 between 20 and 39 years old; 284 between 40 and 59 years old, and 112 above 60 years old.
COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until March 21st, is 0.59% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.20%) and the one of the American continent (2.39%).

Until March 21st, it is confirmed that 190 countries and 29 territories present COVID-19 cases. There is a total of 123 710 113 confirmed cases (+ 557 435) with 21 319 859 active cases, and 2 725 140 deceased (+ 8 137) for a fatality rate of 2.20 (=).
In the American continent, 54 982 673 cases were reported (+ 183 645), which is a 44.44% of the total amount of cases confirmed worldwide, with 9 389 386 active and 1 319 583 deceased (+ 4 361) for a fatality rate of 2.39 (-0.01).
