In the Cuban capital, 380 out of the 727 new COVID-19 positive cases are confirmed

The doctor Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press release that by the end of yesterday, 727 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 63 725.

Until today, 380 deceased were reported (four within the day), 940 were discharged (also within the day), 3 739 were confirmed (5.9%), of which 3 675 (98.2%) have a clinically stable course, and we arrive to 59 550 (93.4%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 33 patients in a critical state and 31 in a serious one.

Of those diagnosed, 380 are residents of the capital, of them, 379 were local infections and 1 was imported. Due to the increase in the case amount, the presence, dispersion, and rising tendency in all municipalities, the province will continue to be in the epidemiological phase know as Limited Local Transmission Stage, also having the highest incidence rate which is 276.3%, being lower that the one of the day before.

The most affected municipalities of the capital were: Habana del Este (46), Arroyo Naranjo (38), Diez de Octubre (37), San Miguel del Padrón (34), Boyeros and Cerro (30 each), Habana Vieja (27), Centro Habana (24), Guanabacoa (21), Marianao (19), Playa (18), Plaza de la Revolución (15), Cotorro (9), and Regla (8).

Ten of these municipalities are among the twelve where the 45.4% of the COVID-19 incidence has been located in the last 15 days. These territories are: Habana Vieja, Regla, Guanabacoa, San Miguel del Padrón, Cotorro, Centro Habana, Cerro, Arroyo Naranjo, Lisa, and Habana del Este.

The other confirmed cases belong to other provinces like Santiago de Cuba (76), Granma (70), Pinar del Rio (62), Camagüey (24), Artemisa (17), Guantánamo (16), Matanzas (14), Ciego de Ávila and Cienfuegos (11 each), Villa Clara and Las Tunas (7 each), Holguín and Sancti Spíritus (6 each).

For the COVID-19, 20 132 samples were analyzed, and 727 were positive. The country has had a total of 710 768 samples analyzed, and 63 725 of these were positive (2.35%).

715 (98.3%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, 4 (0.55%) of these were infected abroad and 8 (1.1%) were infected by a non-determined source.

This Tuesday’s local cases were a total 723, and 4 were imported. A total of 381 (54.4%) of these were female and 346 (47.6%) were male.

A total of 21 974 patients are still hospitalized under clinical and epidemiological surveillance, of these 3 716 are suspected cases, 14 492 are under surveillance, and 3 739 have been confirmed, of which 3 675 (98.2%) have a stable clinical course.

The 52.1% (379) of the 727 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 33 682, which represents the 52.8% of all the confirmed cases to date.

The 727 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 129 below the age of 20 years old; 239 between 20 and 39 years old; 252 between 40 and 59 years old, and 107 above 60 years old.
