The song “Hasta Siempre” is a symbol. It was the result of Carlos Puebla´s inspiration. He was considered The Singer of the People.

At the beginning of the song, referring to Che Guevara, he states:

We learned to love you / from the historic height

Where the sun of your bravely / laid a siege to death.

Here we keep the clear, / the deep transparency

Of your beloved presence / Commander Che Guevara.

Carlos Puebla wrote this song, as he said, on October three, 1965 at that very moment in which Fidel Castro, the leader of the Cuban Revolution, read the goodbye letter Che had given him when he left our country. He went out of Cuba to support the revolutionary fight of other peoples in the world.

Carlos Puebla detailed:

Your revolutionary love / Leads you to another responsibility / Where the determination is hoped / and your liberation arm .

And assured: Here we keep the clear, / the deep transparency

Of your beloved presence / Commander Che Guevara.

In the course of time the song “Hasta Siempre” of Carlos Puebla, became very famous. It has many versions and has been performed by groups and artists from Cuba and from several parts of the world.

Song La Bayamesa

There are four famous songs in Cuba that bear the title La Bayamesa. Two of them are better known by the majority: the one by Sindo Garay and the one by Céspedes, Castillo and Fornaris. But some forget that there are two more that also bear that title: the one by Perucho Figueredo, the Cuban National Anthem and a fourth anonymous song that the mambises sang in the insurrection camps. In La Bayamesa by Céspedes, Castillo and Fornaris it is detailed:

Don't you remember, gentle Bayamesa

That you were my shining sun,

And laughingly on your languid forehead

Soft kiss I imprinted with ardor?

Don't you remember that in a happy time

I was enraptured with thy pure beauty,

And in thy bosom I bent my head

Dying of joy and love?

Come, and look out of your grille smiling;

Come, and listen lovingly to my song;

Come, do not sleep, come to my cry;

Bring relief to my hard pain.

Remembering past glories

Let us dispel, my good, the sadness;

Candita Quintana

She was born on November 2nd, 1912 in Havana. She was an extraordinary Cuban actress. She was considered a legend of the Cuban theater from the artistic point of view. She marked an epoch with her sympathy, ingenuousness, talent and natural grace. Her presentations in several comedies at Theater Marti, in Havana were unforgettable. She dies on September 5th, 1977 in the Cuban capital city.
