He was an exceptional professor who particularly influenced the patriotic growth of Jose Marti. He was born on October 24, 1821 and was a fervent patriot. He used to pass on, those feelings to his students.
He was born on September 9th, 1910 in the village San Antonio de los Baños. He was a leader of the students who took part in several activities in favor of the freedom of his people. He was murdered on September 30th, 1930 when the police forces of the dictator Gerardo Machado suppressed a university student’s demonstration in Havana.
It is a village that has the same name of the municipality in the current province of Las Villas. It was established on October 1st, 1734 in a place known as Bocas de Ranchuelo, that belong to the Hato Del Escambray. Originally it was called San Lorenzo del Riachuelo because it was established in the area of San Lorenzo, on the banks of the stream called Ranchuelo. This place was a small poor hamlet for more than a century; nevertheless it particularly improved around 1856. It was when Diego González Abreu y Jiménez, one of the founders of the hamlet bought a steed and sixty cords of land that he started to sell in pieces of land.The selling began after the drawing of what was supposed to be the current hamlet from the Calle Real 12, where his house was. It was in 1879 when it became a municipality, due to its economical improvement and the increase in population, together with other villages.
She was born in Havana on November 14, 1925. She began her artistic career in 1936 at the Corte Suprema del Arte and La Escala de la Fama. In 1941 she founded the Teatro Popular and worked in radio. In 1958, together with her brother Vicente and other artists, she created the Grupo Teatro Estudio. In this institution she remained as actress, director and general director until the end of its existence. She offered her work for more than 38 years. She died in Havana on January 24, 2004.

In 1793, the Royal Patriotic Society of Havana was founded in Havana, later called the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country. This institution, founded by Francisco de Arango y Parreño, Tomás Romay and José Agustín Caballero, dedicated its work to the economic and social progress of Cuba. At present, the Society promotes actions that motivate reflection, confrontation of ideas and debate to face the challenges of today's world.
