1959. In the Cerro stadium, today the Latin American Stadium, in Havana, a baseball game is held in which Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and Commander Camilo Cienfuegos participate. The teams identified as Barbudos and the National Revolutionary Police would face off before a crowd of more than 30,000 people.

In the game, Fidel Castro and Camilo Cienfuegos were announced as pitchers for each of the teams. But Camilo entered the field in a Barbudos uniform and a catcher's mascot. The journalists approach him and when asked if he wasn't going to pitch for the other team, smiling Camilo tells them: “I am not against Fidel or in a ball game”

When Fidel greeted Amado Maestri, the great Cuban referee, appointed to dispense justice behind the plate, asked him: “Now I am a little detached from the ball game. I want you to tell me how I have to throw so as not to incur a balk.”

1993. As a tribute to the 210th anniversary of the birth of The Liberator of the Americas, the Casa Simón Bolívar was officially inaugurated in Havana.

This institution promotes the exchange of experiences and contributes to cultural promotion in Latin America. The House is located in a stately 18th century mansion located on Mercaderes street between Lamparilla and Obrapía, in Old Havana.

The creation and fitting out of this House was sponsored by the Ateneo de Caracas and the Fundación Casa Simón Bolívar in Venezuela.

Among the main objectives of the institution is the study and dissemination of Bolivarian thought, the life and work of the hero of American independence, as well as the promotion of Latin American culture, which favors cultural exchange between the villages.

Multiple Venezuelan artists donated their works to be exhibited at the Casa Simón Bolívar in Havana.
