In the history of Cuban popular music there are notable artists who have been qualified in a unique way, that is the case of Carlos Manuel Puebla Concha, who was recognized as El Cantor del Pueblo. Through more than half a century of prolific creative activity, he left his dreams, aspirations, experiences and achievements of the Cuban people captured in hundreds of songs.

For Carlos Puebla music was life itself. One day when answering what music meant to him, he said that he believed he had been born with a guitar under his arm.

After the triumph of the Revolution, he fundamentally devoted his musical work to reflecting the main facts and events that occurred in Cuba at that time. He was one of the first creators who composed a work dedicated to the revolutionary triumph. He titled it The fun is over, although many identified it as the Comandante Arrived. He was also inspired by the life and work of relevant figures in national history, such as Commanders Camilo Cienfuegos and Ernesto Che Guevara. He was also the author of musical creations of a romantic nature that became very popular in Cuba, such as the one entitled I want to talk to you.

His birth took place in the city of Manzanillo on September 11, 1917.
