About this he exposes: ... grant them the right to arrest our fishermen in international waters and judge them unilaterally by a jury that must be an imperialist, racist, exploitative jury? What can you expect from a jury in Miami, gentlemen? What kind of justice can be expected? If a lawyer was actually appointed there, it was for contact with the fishermen, to guide them, and to make them see that the town was taking care of them. But no trust in any Yankee jury or judge.

Fidel also detailed: “Those who fight and work for the people, have a people, and the people will defend them in any circumstance and at any price, be it one or a thousand! This is not measured by numbers. Morality is not measured by quantity: it is qualitative; principles are not measured by fractions: they are also qualitative and are a whole. We will defend the rights of one hundred fishermen, of ten fishermen, of one fisherman, at whatever price is necessary!”
