1986. Actor Mario Martínez Casado dies in Havana.

When he was only twenty years old, he was invited to the inauguration of the Teatro Regina in Havana, where he triumphed in works such as Niña Rita. In 1930 he acted and sang at the Teatro Martí together with the company of the Asturian Jesús Ordóñez. In that decade he made his debut with La corte del faraón at the Teatro Principal in the Mexican capital and later toured various states performing in comedies and operettas. In 1942 he made his debut at RHC Cadena Azul as the leading actor and artistic director of the Adventures of Manuel García. This Cuban radio network came to occupy the first place in audience on several occasions. In 1943 he worked in the space of the soap opera that consolidated the romantic, melodramatic, soap opera in Cuba. In 1945 he and his brother Luis Manuel were the forerunners of effects and radio music from different stations in Havana. In the 1950s he made his television debut with Rosita Fornés in the magazine La Corona. From that moment he was present on the small screen working as an actor, singer, entertainer and artistic director of dramas and comedies.

He was a theater, radio, film and television actor, singer, and theater director as well as a performer of particular charisma, discoverer and trainer of young talents.

For his work he received awards and other recognitions.

His birth occurred in Havana on April 28, 1907.

 

2002. Adolfo Martí Fuentes dies in Havana.

Born on June 12, 1922 in Galicia, Spain, he arrived in Cuba with his relatives the following year.

In Havana is where he develops his life and actively develops his work. From the stage of his youth he was committed to the cause of social emancipation of Cuba. Very young he was linked to various political-social organizations, including the Communist Youth League and the People's Youth Association. He later militated in the party of the Cuban communists. He achieved the status of Bachelor of Science and Letters in 1943 at the Institute of Havana and later that of Bachelor of Hispanic Language and Literature.

Cataloged as a renovator of the tenth and as a prince of spinel, his work in verses covered several meters, always with an unusual draft. In addition to his work as a poet he was a teacher, journalist and diplomat.

He was the first winner of the Cucalambé contest. He deserved the tenth prize in the July 26 contest with his book Around the point, which represented an important milestone in the trajectory of the written tenth.
