Havana Anniversaries. April 29th.

 

1940.  Lourdes Torres Ortiz is born in Guanabacoa, Havana.

She began her artistic career when she was only twelve years old as a lyric singer in the choir of Professor Maria Adams, with which she made her first presentations at the Principal de la Comedia Theater and on Channel 4 of Cuban Television in the program Nuestra Cuba.

In his authorial work one can find an infinite number of themes, all related to the social reality in which he lived. She told not only her own experiences but also those of other people with whom she was related. She dealt with love, friendship, betrayal, frustrations, envy and also happiness and hope. She had to her credit more than two hundred titles, most of which became successes.

Some of his works have been winners in important contests in our country and abroad.

He passed away in Havana on August 16, 2017.

 

2004.  Leonel Isaac López - Nussa Carrión dies in Havana.

He was born in the Cuban capital on May 20, 1916.

He was a painter, draftsman, engraver, storyteller, journalist, plastic arts, film and theater critic. His first exhibition in Cuba took place in 1961, followed by about 50 personal exhibitions until 2004. He was invited to participate in numerous salons and group exhibitions in Cuba and abroad.

After his death, several personal exhibitions have been presented in different institutions such as the José Martí National Library, the Antonio Rodríguez More Gallery and the National Museum of Fine Arts, Arte Cubano building, dedicated to his life and multifaceted work.
