Havana anniversaries. April 21

1876.    Ismael A. Clark Mascaró is born in Regla, Havana.

Doctor in Dental Surgery, professor, journalist and writer, he was elected as the first Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Havana. He was responsible for the design of the emblem of Cuban stomatology. He developed an arduous work as a writer, which was reflected in his works Kempis Mundanizado, Leyendas Nacionales and the complete format of a Diccionario de términos médico - estomatológicos (Dictionary of medical-stomatological terms). He was a patriot who actively participated in the cause for Cuba's independence.

He died in the Cuban capital on December 21, 1964.

1994.  The Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, CITMA, was created.  

It is the Cuban agency in charge of directing, executing and controlling the policy of the State and the Government in matters of science, technology, environment and use of nuclear energy: It promotes the coherent integration of these spheres in the sustainable development of the country. 

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, CITMA, emerged with the enactment of Decree Law No. 147, which determined the reorganization of the Central State Administration. It was formed from the integration of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba, an institution that had its antecedents in the Academy of Medical, Physical and Natural Sciences of Havana, founded in 1861, the Executive Secretariat for Nuclear Affairs, the National Commission for Environmental Protection and the Rational Use of Natural Resources and the Governing Commission of the Great Sierra Maestra National Park.
